Located at the Historic Key West Armory, the Studios of Key West was founded as a nonprofit cultural organization in 2006, and is governed by a volunteer board of community leaders.
Their mission is to support Key West’s local creative people, while developing audiences in the Conch Republic and partnerships throughout the area. They are a model for the 21st century artist community, and their growing campus in the Old Town neighborhood offers a mix of performing arts events, lectures, community workshops, and island residencies for creative people from all over the world. The Armory building, where they are located, is historically preserved as the only wood-frame government structure in the Keys. It’s made up of a main exhibition hall, 12 studio spaces for Key West artists and writers, and a rotating sculpture garden.
