One of the biggest differences with Sunny Days is that it is a family owned and operated company. Sonny & Kathy Eymann started Sunny Days in 1992. The first vessel in the Sunny Days fleet was a small sailing catamaran that was built by Sonny & Kathy in Arkansas. Not long after starting Sunny Days they welcomed their son Andrew to the family. Over the years Sonny has designed and/or personally built additional boats for unique Key West trips. The designs for Fast Cat, Caribbean Spirit & Dolphin Cat were commissioned by Sonny and built by Gold Coast Yachts in St. Croix. The Reef Express & Cruzan Cat were designed and built locally in the Keys by Sonny.
The fragile ecosystem of the Keys is very important to Sunny Days. We strive to operate a business that has as minimal an impact as possible and are always looking for ways to make it better. Sunny Days was one of the first companies to become a member of the Dolphin Smart program through the National Marine Sanctuary. This program promotes education and responsible viewing of dolphin in the wild. We have also worked with Reef Relief for many years to promote conservation of our reef. Most recently our captain and crew have gone through their Reef Ranger program, which educates people who work on the water to spot changes in coral, what they mean and when to report them.
The crew of Sunny Days is like a big family. We strive to treat customers like we would want our family treated while they are in Key West. No matter which Sunny Days tour you take you will feel like part of our family.
